We had to break up but didnt want to :-( PLEASE HELP?

I've been seeing this girl (even though we liked one another since september) for about 6 weeks and we are crazy for each other, and today we decided (mutually) to stop seeing each other. the reason is college is over in a month and we live 1.30 hours away from each other and had a private conversation away from our friends in college and agreed we couldnt make it work during the summer and to end it sooner rather than later because we both admitted we were going to fall for one another and stop now before it got too difficult to break up. after this conversation we spent 2 hours together with our friends in college hanging out and got on like nothin changed. when we were alone i put my arm around her for a hug cause we were dicussing our previous conversation and we kissed and again before she had to leave and we were both very sad at this point, we know we wont text like before or see each other until next monday. (we're just so used to talking everyday) although we agreed to stop texting, dates etc and just be friends we both know we have strong feelings and we're both going out sunday night and i'll know we'll just end up being all loved up again.its really confusing its not like a normal break up because we want it to work but cant help the situation we're in....if we lived nearer we said we would definately be dating by now.. we talked about tryning to make it work for the summer cause i have a car but we both will be working and we would have limited time together...any advice on how to cope would be so helpful we're both confused on how to handle this :-( it would be wrong to agree to get back together in september because that may be living in false hope all summer but we agreed that if we were both feeling the same we would continue seeing each other.. it would be wrong to wait for 3 months and its all very confusing :-( are we making the right decision? i cant see our feelings changing by then should we make a pact to talk about us in september?...I know people will say try and make it work its not far away but i'm the only one who can drive and we both have jobs so time for ourselfs would be limited thats our main problem...any help would be appreciated
