How can a paint Nick Jr. characters for resale (not m production) without breaking any copyright laws.?

I painted a backyardigans picture on a canvas for my daughters room but now people have seen it and love it and want me to paint Dora and other characters for them. This is not m production I just paint signs ofr kids rooms with their names but no people want characters with the names. How can I do this without breaking copyright laws.
