Don't listen to anyone who says a .357 is a good choice for grizzly bear. It is Highly debated whether the .44 mag is enough for Grizzly defense,let alone Grizzly hunting. Without going to a shotgun with slugs or a rifle, you should go bigger than the .44, people love the SW .500. I have a .44 mag and find that I enjoy shooting it more than my 9 mm and .45 ACP. Felt recoil is more about how the gun fits you than the power of the cartridge.
