Please help!! I cannot open my pictures on my computer is there any solutions?

Whenever I try & open up my pictures from anywhere ie: paint, windows picture viewer, etc. it says this "c:/users/owner/pictures is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable." What do I do!!! Did all my pictures get deleted or something? Where are they & why can't I open my pictures file!
