Giving beer to horse?

My horse has got mild colic atm. I have taken him to the vet and she said she isn't worried as it isn't serious. She drenched him and said he should be fine in a day or 2. Someone has suggested to me to give him beer? im going to try this but i want to know what brand. i live in Perth Western Australia. So i might not be able to get all brands
