Question for young middle eastern men concerning sandals?

What is your opinion on wearing sandals? I have noticed that middle eastern guys about 29 and under (even 30's) who have lived in the usa have broken away from this type of footwear. Of the middle eastern pool I have mostly seen men in late 40's and up who wear sandals.
