What now for South Africa?

Thabo Mbeki has had to resign, he's gone with good grace and no doubt a great deal of personal relief but where will this leave South Africa on the worlds stage? Some of his party have already strongly hinted they would like to do as Zimbabwe have done and get rid of white owners - they don't seem to see the nett result though.
