Why hasn't he asked me out yet?

I know this guy, and we've been sorta flirting with each other for about two months now, and I am almost absolutely sure he likes me and wants to go out with me. Of course, I can't ask him out because it wouldn't work out. So it leaves me stuck in this sort of limbo that is not very comforting to my mind. Help?!?!
